UPDATE | Dog Days of Summer

...So I again skillet-grilled two Thumann's Pork & Beef Hot Dogs and placed them into toasted hot dog buns, topping them with shrimp (this time boiled in water, butter and lemon juice instead of sautéing them in butter and garlic), wasabi mayo, sriracha sauce, pickled orange peppers, and cilantro, and bringing them downstairs on a paper plate to Ali and Chris to try.... And if you live in a neighborhood like mine—where pizzerias average 1.3 per block, you're going to want to do the work of finding out where you $2.50–$3.75 per slice is best spent.... [Full post]

Gastropub Just a Little Off

...The hot dogs being longer than the buns they were on, I was able to try a bite of just weiner. They were good—Psilakis' recipes both—and possessed the texture of homemade sausages. But, again, they kind of clashed with the remedially lowf-fi food "comfortability" of the toppings, especially the Chicago dog, which excelled on the toppings but were better suited for a Sabrett's....
